This accident did a ton for how we understand micro burts and wind shear. Prior to this, pilots didn’t receive a lotta training for either. My grandfather for an L10 captain for delta and always told me the accident investigation for this incident saved a ton of life’s later on.

for anyone wondering, microburst are sudden burst of downdrafts in thunderstorms, they can reach winds close to 100 MPH and above in rare cases
