I took a year of leave between my second and third yr of med school and was initially devastated I would be graduating with my class and the friends I had made… but it ended up being my biggest blessing in disguise. This year I matched to my number one choice. I’m rooting for you, your journey is your own and you will make it to the destination intended 💗💗💗

Been there done that hahaha. After 3 years now it just becomes funny like it really wasn't that serious lol. After redoing it I also see where i went wrong and could have done better. Also a forced time to really sit down if Med is still something you still want to pursue or something that you lost the want and passion for!!! Kinda came out of it knowing I'd regret it and be sad if i chose to quit at that moment

Shoutout to your transparency! I’m an administrator in a medical school and I see the most amazing students repeat all the time. There is no shame in a do over. Some of the best physicians I know had to repeat. I know it feels lonely, but you’re not alone! I work in medical student academic success and I know that you have to figure out how to approach medical school curriculum in a way that works for you. Please, please reach out for support if you haven’t! Wishing the absolute best! ♥️

As someone who has had to repeat a semester of med school, it sucks but looking back, I’m glad I repeated. You get a better understanding of the content and you figure out how you need to adjust. Graduation will always be there. Just focus on finishing whenever that is. 🫶🏽

School in general is hard. You’re in medial school! You’re doing the damn thing. Once you finish it won’t matter!

I was in a similar position 2 years ago and actually took a medical leave but decided that I just wasn’t getting the support I needed to succeed in medicine at my program. I think you’re handling it well. Make sure your program continues to support you the way you need and make sure you find a community who can relate. 🙏🏽

I repeated 2nd year and now just matched at a top 3 residency program. You will get through this and learn so much about yourself in between. Grow through this. God is positioning you for a greater purpose.

Keep up your spirit! I took leave in the middle of second year and repeated. Matched at a great residency in a major city, was named chief resident, and lined up a competitive fellowship. You’ve got this!

I literally said in my head delayed not denied and you said it immediately after ❤️this is a very hard field both mentally and physically it’s important you take care of yourself and no matter what the end goal is the same and how you get there ultimately doesn’t matter it’s about pushing through ❤️❤️❤️

Dr Iggy Spine Doctor has taken a hiatus as well. His decision & he stated …”the path to medicine is not linear as ppl think”. Some have chosen to delay for many different reasons….but you will get there! Go at your own pace; it should not ever be a race! Medicine is not easy. Soo proud of you; young lady

I have loved getting to know you. Your vulnerability, honesty, and openness with this journey is so so appreciated. You are so right, the medical school journey can be isolating, even lonely. It’s really difficult to find community amongst hardship, but I hope you know, I’m always rooting for you 💕
