Fun fact charcoal filters out chlorine which is the primary disinfectant in most water systems and getting rid of it can lead to legionella growth which is why charcoal filters are banned in most hospitals

i do understand filtering out heavy metal, hard minerals, and other pollutants from water in the shower, but as an environmental engineering student, please don’t filter out the chlorine!! it’s there for a reason

If you’re already thinking about spending the money, get a whole home filter. We had a company do a demo through Home Depot and they wanted $50 a month I think which if you’re already spending the money on a showerhead filter, brita, etc. it might be cheaper and better to do! It also protects all your appliances and stuff

That’s the filter media. Resin and charcoal, the ick is the resin used to be white, it should look like a clean black sand with clean white resin balls, so it worked if the resin backs are dirty

that is absolutely just what’s in the filter, they use sand and all sorts of small grit stuff to filter smaller contaminants out of your water. not to say they don’t work, that’s absolutely how a filter works. However that is still just the filtering elements.

Jollie gets rid of chlorine/metals., but does not soften the water (does not remove magnesium and calcium). If chlorine is what worries you, you'll be fine.

I’m sure it’s discolored from usage but that’s pretty close to what they look like brand new. Same filtration as a brita.
