A lot of modern mathematicians love to act like math is not everywhere. But it is. FORMAL mathematics is not necessarily everywhere. No you won't see lengthy proofs when you're studying tadpoles in rural South America. But anywhere you quantify, anywhere you measure, math is present. That's simply the nature of it. It's a tool we use to calculate, and it's also a realm of study we immerse ourselves in because we want to. I think analysts get caught up in being specific because that's what their body of logic requires of them, but they are misunderstanding the sentiment. -a mathematician

Maths is everywhere. In my work, I work with cell migration, how cells navigate through tissue, I collaborate with people in physics and maths to model my cells and inform my experiments. It's not always easy to translate their models into something testable, because we're constrained by the biological system that we use, but it's been a very interesting journey for me to interact with and understand the way maths and physics people think, and how different it is to me as a biological experimentalist.

In physics we don't use numbers much either, it's just sometimes at the end of the calculation to link a little to the real but it's not the majority.
