Joe Montana will always be the GOAT if you know anything. He won 2 of his 4 rings before Rice was even drafted. He was on the verge of a 5th ring and 3peat when he was KOd in the 4th quarter of the 90 NFC title game with the lead. He threw his elbow out in camp in 91 and missed two years, then came back and took an average KC team to the playoffs twice, including an AFC title game. He holds a 128 career Super Bowl passer raiting, he never threw a single interception in 4 Super Bowls, he played in the brutal culture of the 80s, especially the NFC, and missed significant time due to back and head injuries because there were no QB protection rules. He didn't have the defenseless receiver rule to pad stats over the middle with big chunk plays, because you could hit the receiver the moment the ball touched their hands, unlike now where you have to let him catch the ball and make a football move. He did benefit from the 5 yd chuck rule, but it wasn't heavily enforced until 2004. I don't care who the other options are from the 21st century: Brady, Mahomes, P. Manning, Brees, Rodgers, etc. If my house or liberty is on the line and all other things are equal, and I need one drive or one game, I'm taking Joe Montana all day.
