Dude you honestly just made me feel so much better about my depression 😭 I never made that connection between Eowyn and the Witch King, and I'm not sure you meant it in a 100% serious way - but in any case, it put a silver lining to my day. Cheers!

i know its a well used trope at this point but i love the theme of the powerful being defeated by the ordinary because they were underestimated or posessed traits that wouldnt cross the mind of a being so high and mighty. Tolkein really mastered it and knew how to weave it into a rich tapestry.

the prophecy is about merry actually. he used the barrow-blade to kill the witch king. eowyn's blade didn't have any magical enchantment, and therefore couldn't actually damage a wraith. she distracted the witch king, and merry actually killed him

The best part is that the wights that captured the hobbits in the Barrow Down were reanimated by the Witch King's own sorcery, meaning in a roundabout way he orchestrated his own downfall.
