@diaryofahomedesigner: Introducing you to ✨the close out schedule✨ Your builder will run over schedule. You’ll be rushing to move in. Here’s how I handle this situation in the studio.
Our GC dilly dallied for 4 months, a project that really truly was not extensive. We had been in a rental but the lease ended when the 4 months were up, so we were in a horrific AirBnb for an extra month. Then the GC said he needed 1 more week. I told him he’d better find somewhere for me to leave. LET ME TELL YOU, when HE was paying for my housing, the amount of workers on-site TRIPLED.

If we knew how long projects would take we would never engage builders. However there are things beyond control weather can have a huge impact, this impact drying time of surfaces plastering painting which then leads onto delays with timber work installation which will swell and warp if drying doesn’t happen soon enough. Apart from that, it’s the coordination of all these different trades juggling all different projects. I can see it all from both sides but I think clients really need to understand the timelines are only guidelines.

We’ve been quoted 9-12 weeks for a new kitchen and internal reconfiguration. Assuming that is very unrealistic
