For those of you that are actually arguing about whether or not that it has a lid lock or not as someone who just bought their speed queen like two months ago, they do have models that do not have a lid lock. They also have some models that does have a lid log they also come in black. They also come in white me myself. I got the white one. I also got one that does have a lid lock because it was actually $300 cheaper to get it in white and with the lid lock then in black without the lid lock which for me I didn’t care if it had a lid lock or not I really didn’t care because ours is outside and so it’s not like I’m going to constantly be un close to it. I have to make sure I have all of my clothes before I even go out there so for me luck doesn’t matter.

People dont realize how awesome this washer is. There really is nothing better, once you buy one and use it you can look look back. Plus the warranty is so great if you ever needed it( I have not in 3 years) Nothing compares

Modern washers are required to have a lid lock or a drum brake. Open that lid while the machine is in spin and the brake will activate, stopping the drum in seconds. It’s cheaper to make a lock than the brake so most manufacturers put a lock on instead. Also many speedqueen models will use a lock, yours just so happens to have the brake instead

Transmission driven washers like this Speed Queen have been required to have tub brakes since the mid to early 70s. That is why this machine is not required to have a lid lock. Front loading machines obviously have lid locks for safety reason’s and property loss prevention reasons. Top load washers that do not have a transmission and coast to a stop and are required to have a lid lock for safety reasons.

A washing machine should never be loaded with it running or with any water in it. All laundry should always be dry loaded. If laundry is being loaded in the machine running or with water in the machine it is automatically being overloaded, which also means automatically the dryer is being overloaded.

they have a magnet on the lid. just use a fridge magnet and it will work but remember to take it off before you start washing
