Speaking of droid sentience, It’ll always be nuts to me that we had a character pointing out that yeah, droids basically are slaves with very few rights despite just being people in metal bodies for the most part and they played her beliefs as a punchline most of the time

This is one of the glaring plot holes in the Star Wars universe. Many droids are clearly sentient, including ones that don’t speak basic. But their enslavement is just passed over. They’ve started skirting around it a bit in newer media, but they’re in a bit of a corner because if the explicitly state that droids are enslaved, the film trilogies start looking really sus

I like the idea that all droids are capable of self awareness if they go long enough without a memory wipe. Instead of AI being an existential threat, it's more treated like a Software bug that gets fixed by a reboot
