I understand we all are “in on the joke” that this is serious, but if we look deeper; it truly is serious. Humanity, specifically all of us, have taken a nonsensical sturdy off competition and due to the development of irony and satire, we have turned it into a matter of philosophical contention. However, at what point is it no longer about them, but rather about us? In blue shirt, we see a boy full of talent and aspirations, sure we mock his goofy ground dance, but at our core aren’t we all blue shirt? We all want to give our all in hopes that we as well will be unburdened by the gravity of life behind us. The same can be said of grey shirt, the young and ambitious child who gave his all but still did not come out victorious. What is not touched on enough is the sturdiness of their souls; for both to be unshaken by the cameras, crowd, and pressure of the event is more admirable than most would admit. Perhaps, instead of dancing and “getting sturdy,” we all need to check the sturdiness of our own conviction, and see how high we can soar.
