I went to graduate school in Glasgow and it was a dream. Miss it every day. I would make that your base and take the train into Edinburgh to do tourist stuff over there and Stirling to see the castle. You can access Loch Lomond and the islands if you make Glasgow your hub. Glaswegians are so friendly, the food scene is underrated and it’s definitely more ethnically and culturally diverse as well. Can’t say enough good stuff.

I'd recommend swapping the Maldives for Fiji. Way more affordable, same vibes, better culture. And about a four hour flight from Sydney or Aukland, NZ.

Loved Scotland. First visit I used Glasgow as base. Train ride is an hr to Edinburgh so was easy for me as thats work commute time for me. Took trips to lowland to see Culzean Castle which was in my bucket list. Edinburgh has very steep hills

I have been to Scotland, Amsterdam, and JoBurg. I liked them all. Japan, India, Russia, and China are all bucket list destinations, and I hope to get to them this year. Namibia is calling me as well. Nevertheless, of course, the main one is Antarctica.
Have you considered Namibia and the Etosha National Park ?

I liked Edinburgh and Amsterdam. Both for the architecture styles and history of Edinburgh and green spaces of Amsterdam. Walking along the canals in Amsterdam was calming. I’m the type that will walk as much of a city as possible, hit a few tourist spots, and wing the rest. You stumble upon the best stuff and it makes the experience that much more memorable and engaging. Found one particular garden in Amsterdam with a butterfly greenhouse and it was magical! In Edinburgh we tried Haggis, Neeps and Tatties… and it reminded me of a southern Sunday roast.
