@threadofeverything: The church has been wrong about the darkest three hours in history. The darkness at the cross was never the absence of God. When you track the Hebrew word “arafel” through Scripture, it changes everything about how you read the crucifixion. #GoodFriday #TheologyTikTok #ThreadOfEverything #BibleStudy #LearnOnTikTok

So many accuse God of being an angry God, but I believe aside from his primary emotion being love, his secondary emotion is heartbreak. And that’s huge and affects perspective when you let yourself explore that concept. Third is justice, from love. Sir you are a great narrator, thank you for sharing.

I have been saying this for years. Everybody wants to quote Psalm 22 verse one, which they then claim as evidence that God abandoned Jesus. But no! God never abandoned Jesus. Jesus mentioned that verse because that’s how you found a chapter of the scrolls back then. You quoted the first verse. But what Jesus really wanted to draw your attention to was Psalm 22 verse 24 which declares, “For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.” Psalms 22 : 24 NASB1995 https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.22.24.NASB1995. So, no, God did not forsake Jesus, ever! And he will never forsake you, either.

Thank you for sharing your insights. I have long felt like my life has been lived in darkness and utter silence from God despite my constant reaching out to Him. I know understand that his silence and darkness can still coexist with His presence because of you.

Hi bit confused. I thought darkness was the absence of light. I always thought God was light but I suppose he can be dark too. Dark can be peaceful of course

Psalm 22:24 also says of God, "He has not hidden His face from Him, but has heard, when He cried to him." I've been teaching for a while that God didn't turn away in His Son's darkest hour (& He doesn't turn away in ours) even though that's what I was taught because He quoted Psalm 22:1. But those standing close enough to hear Jesus' cry would have remembered every word of that Psalm. It was a prophecy of that whole terrible day. Thank you for explaining this so well.

I don’t think that the Son couldn’t feel the Father. I think He was quoting Psalms. People back then would have known that Psalm and made the connection that he was fulfilling it.

The first time someone revealed to me that Jesus was recalling his prophesy in Psalm 22 “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Written by David who he descended from and Jesus was not actually proclaiming those as his own words… it was a huge revelation for me. And how beautiful Jesus was and is teaching us. Yes, it feels confusing, like a riddle, and dense at times - but when the epiphany happens it’s like learning to ride pedal bike again for the first time.

Just like Christ was in the beginning of Genesis, where was God in the beginning? God was in the middle of the darkness, and the world was without form and void. WOW!

so I have a total opinion about when the earthquake happened that it was the rocks crying out for Jesus in worship. not sure why I think that but I just do. I know there is a verse about even the rocks would worship and I just have always correlated it with that earthquake

Those few women were Mary His mother, Mary Magdalene, Salome, Mary Joseph’s mother, Jesus’ aunt Mary, and women from Galilee who were His supporters. They stayed when all but one man left Him.
