@_heresmytake: Forgiveness is necessary for peace, but reconciliation is a matter of wisdom. You are not just reconnecting with a person. You are reconnecting with their patterns, integrity, and nature. Real remorse takes responsibility for the harm, not just the intention. Some people may deserve forgiveness, but not renewed access.
That’s why I kind of don’t believe in reconciliation. I have already seen you for who you are and there’s no going back.

I’ve had plenty of people in my life say an apology only matters if someone yes takes full ownership, commits to not doing it again, says sorry, and then keeps to that commitment…. Once I could finally accept that I realized reconciliation isn’t possible most of the time even when you forgive someone

This is true. God showed me this over the past few years. We can forgive but we can’t come into agreement with the behaviors that keep that person bound to whatever they’re fighting, which then keeps us bound to wounds God is actively trying to heal in us. God bless you 🙏🏾

People get so triggered when I talk about this. After I got to a point of forgiveness with my parents (who I was previously in no contact with), I eventually was able to mend and reconcile to some extent, but it required me to lead by example which is incredibly hard to do. If my parents were able to apologize, take accountability and make some changes why would I not reconcile? It has made my life better in so many ways but it's also not easy to truly forgive to the point were you truly let go of resentment. I thank God for giving my the strength and humility to achieve this 🙏🏼✝️

I love this outlook on it. I see that forgiveness is like a needed gateway to ensure that you’re putting your best self forward in order for the reconciliation to be successful.
