R100k per month is a lot. If you cannot make it work, you need to take a good hard look at your priorities. Maybe don't drive a BMW, don't put your kids in a R12000 per mo th school, don't buy a R2 500 000 house. R100k is more than enough for a family of 4.

That is just reckless spending. School fees can come down to R5k for two kids, medical aid can come down to R9500 for 4. Or 0 if you willing to use government.

The debate isn't actually about whether 100k is 'enough' that’s subjective. The real issue is the hidden cost of state failure. We are paying a premium for a lifestyle that our taxes should already be covering. When you have to buy your own security, your own healthcare, your own electricity, and your own education on top of a high tax bracket, 100k vanishes quickly. We've been conditioned to accept paying twice for the same service, and that’s the real tragedy here. A person who earns 40k in a state that functions well may be richer than a person who earns 100k in a dis functional state. And i believe this is the article is about
