@sheldricktrust: When Yatta arrives at Ithumba, she arrives with her whole family. For the last couple of months the Keepers have enjoyed regular visits from Yatta. Appearing from the bush with Yoyo, Yogi, and little Yara by her side — her three youngest calves, all born into the wild. Yara is Yatta's fourth calf, she was born a ready-made family: two big brothers, a big sister, and a mother who was once a tiny orphan. Yatta lost her own mother to poachers in 1999, leaving her alone and in a desperate state at only a few weeks old. Brought into our care in Nairobi, she grew up, graduated to our Ithumba Reintegration Unit, went wild, and started a family! Your support makes stories like Yatta’s possible.
