I get it. He’s saying she has to deal with trauma in reality whereas he only has to portray it. So regardless he keeps in mind it is fictional

You basically have three choices: study real life trauma and mimic it, study previous performances of trauma on screen and mimic those, or invent a new type of performance of trauma.
