The funny thing for me about Eleanor of Aquitaine is that, despite being one of the most famous and powerful women of the Medieval period, we have no idea what she looked like. Beyond being frequently described as beautiful, no-one seems to have ever left a more specific description. We don't even know what colour her hair was.
