Myelinated neurones are specialised to send signals faster: Myelinated neurons transmit signals faster due to the presence of myelin sheath, which is a fatty insulating layer that surrounds the axons of these neurons. Increased Axonal Resistance: Myelination increases the electrical resistance across the membrane, which reduces the leakage of ions and helps maintain the strength of the signal over longer distances. 3. Decreased Capacitance: The myelin sheath decreases the capacitance of the axonal membrane, allowing the neuron to respond more quickly to electrical stimuli.
