I have chickens who eat their eggs, I keep shells there for them and have done all the other things that may be the issue but I think they just like them…ugh…I have 25 and only average 13-18 per day.

I went out today to give my hens water abd the dish was empty of water but they filled the empty dish with the oyster shells 😳 My husband was wondering if they where offering the water god a gift in exchange for more water 😂

Definitely going to try this. My chicks were laying about a dozen a day during the cold months now that it’s warmed up they have completely quit. (I’m new a this but I thought that was backwards?)

Question, is there an alternative to using oyster shells for your chickens? I have a shellfish allergy and now I'm rethinking how to have chickens. Would limestone be a good alternative?

i just found your account, but if ,our not doing it, give them the eggshells after u use the eggs and bones after u cook a broth, we do it and it worked beautifully for us. Hope u're gonna have lot of eggs ❤️

if you make any eggs you can bake and crush the shells throw it out to them with the scratch

just a little trick if your chickens keep eating their eggs even after getting more calcium is to put a couple golf balls in their nesting spots/ egg laying spots.. they are hard and don't break so hens quickly give up attempting to eat them

I have a question. My parents have hens and they have like 4/5 hens that don’t have back and butt feathers mom has put diatomaceous earth on them for parasites but we haven’t actively seen any of the hens being mean to the other ones. They’ve been this way for months. They aren’t molting and they lay eggs fine. Do you have any clue on what might be going on?
