meanwhile Joaquin Phoenix played the Joker two times, won an oscar for the first time and got nominated for a razzie the second time.

If we’re being real it should’ve been Paul Newman both times

Brando and De Niro both won an Oscar for playing the same character, Vito Corleone. Wonder how many times that has happened

Fun fact: Judi Dench was also nominated for playing Queen Elizabeth (in supporting actress for Shakespeare in Love) the same year Cate first was!

What about Harold Russell in The Best Years of Our Lives? He got Best Supporting and Academy Honorary at the same time for the same role.

What’s hilarious is that no actor has the double win but the Joker the character has

Pacino probably should of won it for The Godfather but it was a prime example of splitting the votes seeing how Robert Duvall and James Caan were both also nominated for Best Supporting Actor for The Godfather

Muc harder to research, but I wonder who has won once that has a good chance of being in another film. Obviously characters who die in their own film wouldn’t be likely. Someone who reappears in other material like a novel character would be high up

It’s even tough to find winners for the same character if they were played by different people. I can only think of Rita Moreno and Ariana DeBose, who won best supporting actress for playing Anita in West Side Story.

Pacino's loss in the Godfather is start of legacy wins. Which is why we've seen so many amazing roles not being rewarded
