I read somewhere that they could have low blood sugar so maybe put a snack by her nightstand (idk her age) so when she wakes up she can grab something quick or offer her a quick snack :/ you're doing amazing mama!

I've seen something that says toddlers can have low blood sugar when they wake up and they are grumpy cause they need to eat

My daughter hates being looked at when she wakes up the easiest thing I can do for her is turn on her favorite movie and see if she wants a snack

My 2 year old does this… I can never figure it out. We finally started a new routine of a low stimulation show, breakfast & milk immediately after waking & she’s had an easier time

My daughter does this when she’s really thirsty right before bed and right after waking up! Also teeth pain or growing pains could be what she’s dealing with!

our little man just got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes & was in DKA prior to his diagnosis. also not just with after first waking up, he has been very very angry / attitude lately lol! we just got out of the hospital today after a 5 day stay. obviously not saying that is the case, BUT he does this / had been doing this. i’ve seen & heard different things (but i feel like the main culprits are) just like most comments are saying: low blood sugar / needing to eat when waking up and that makes them grumpy. or sleep inertia. which i am still studying up on, but it all makes sense. it’s tough dealing with, and confusing but! it makes it easier understanding what it could be / how to manage it. you got this mamas! 💖

This use to happen a lot with my son, sometimes I let him lay in his bed or stay in his room until he’s ready to come out and start his day. A snack does seem to help, I offer yogurts or applesauce.

Sleep inertia maybe? My oldest was like that for nearly 2 years. Always took about an hour for him to come to.

1. you are doing NOTHING wrong.
2. I had this happen with my oldest a few times. but now it's more of whining than crying and I honestly don't even know how she stopped.

This was my kids. When they wake up I give them about 10-15 to sit and wake up in their rooms to play with toys or read books. If I get them immediately as they open their eyes they are so upset and grouchy. Also, giving them a snack immediately after waking helps a ton. Their ped told me they wake up with low blood sugar which plays a part in being upset when waking.
