@alexfasulobiz: Solar in a COMMERCIAL setting bypasses any innovations you expect to see. It’s the purest form of greed with total protection by New York State. This is what it is. This is why people are upset. It’s an affront on our way of life and the wildlife that inhabits the earth with us. And it generates next to no meaningful power for our grids in northern climates. It’s a huge scam.
Girl that’s too funny and true. Solar panels in upstate NY are like me having a closet full of winter jackets here in Florida 😂😭

I worked for this company at this exact field. They are installed with motors to follow the sun. What they didn’t account for was the wind blowing from east to west and breaking the motors to turn the panels. The ones that aren’t turning are broken and haven’t been fixed. When you are in the field you will hear the motors turning the panels that aren’t broken. They do turn, but poor planning didn’t account for the wind blowing. Some of the legs on the frames are lifted 3-4 feet out of the ground because of the wind. They are still hitting their output quotas so they haven’t bothered to fix the broken motors.

They do follow the sun. When it’s cloudy obviously they can’t follow the sun when it’s not out.

Also they are covered in snow all winter. So if they did work then they only work for maybe one month a year

They probably did once upon a time but these companies install these "solar farms" and leave, nobody maintains them.

What you mean we don’t have sun!!!!! I live here and have most my life!!! But they do take up land that can’t be farmed now!! Wind tower takes up about 50’ circumference after all built , and can still use the field all around it for crops

So true. I also love the 6-10” of snow on the panels in our area. Generating some major electricity December - March.

I live in central NY. We are surrounded by solar panels and they rarely ever face the sun. And I am off the east end of the lake and we get very little sun because of the lake. Always cloudy through fall winter and spring

Some panels do if they are equipped with the appropriate mechanisms. These look like they may be set to get sun from both angles or because of the defused sunlight it could be confusing sensors if they are equipped.
