Haute couture which are the top of female garments, are mostly hand sewn. The same for the finest male tailoring. It gives more precise control and you can do things and machine can’t.

hand sewing is so much more reliable and versatile! with a machine you need precise settings, electricity and a bunch of bits and bobs whereas a needle and thread can go a very long way

Machine sewing is faster but faster isn’t always better. Hand sewing allows me to finish my edges much more precisely too

I used to HATE hand sewing, but now I like it, it's the ultimate cozy activity, especially if you're working on something like a quilt. I still mostly machine sew, it's just so much faster
