I think it’s honestly bc people are regretful they didn’t travel with their friends more when they were younger/single and a bach is an easy, captive forum for getting people (esp those in relationships) to commit to a group trip w only friends

We enjoy the first group Bachelorette trip but after that, it gets old FAST. People want to use their PTO for their own destination choices.

Idk man. I’m in my 30s. 2 of my friends are getting married this year. But if we were still 20 then I might think about the cost and be stressed. We also work full time and have since we were in our 20s. We would take birthday vacations for each other when we were waiting tables. Now that we all make good money why shouldn’t we fly to Hawaii? And rent a boat and lake house in Tahoe? We don’t have careers where we go on crazy brand trips. We have also been rooting each other on as we looked for and found these guys… after every bad date and every break up… heard about their relationships for many many years… I don’t find it difficult to want to do these things

I feel like the wedding industrial complex has a grip on us all. I recently got married and I told my MOH I just wanted a half day at a winery. She insisted on making it a multi day event over a weekend where people had to travel too. After wards she complained that it was too expensive of a weekend and too focused on me. Even tho I didn’t want that in the first place.

People are choosing what they’re choosing because everyone is trying to create a life that is worthy of an IG post. Bach parties used to be one evening. Maybe a full day. Things have gotten so completely out of hand

The inconvenience wouldn’t bother me so much if wasn’t ALL for IG content. The glam destination, the hyperspecific outfit requirements, the branded merch and photoshoot decor that we all have to pay for, the activities that don’t even align with the bride’s vibes

I think we’re hurtling into an economic situation where less people will be having actual weddings and more people will have courthouse weddings and parties with friends. I can barely feed and clothe myself working full time in healthcare, I cannot have my friends depending on me financially to show my devotion and friendship

I travel a lot but I have to do it solo because, let’s be honest, people in relationships save all their leave for their future husband and the dual family events around holidays. I’m freaking thrilled to have my friends back as “girls” on trips again. It is way more fun than the wedding and is more about the friendship than any other part to me.

One of my friends went on a week long, all inclusive resort bachelorette trip. The only girl she knew was the bride. 2500$ for a group trip where you only know one person? Sure people can say no, but brides also need to make sure the ask is reasonable.

I’ve gone to everyone’s bachelorettes and weddings and baby showers. Not one of them acknowledged when I warned by graduate degree. I’m done. It’s gotten completely out of hand.

A trip makes sense if none of the girls live close to one another. It’s pretty common for people to disperse post college all over so a trip makes sense but it doesn’t need to be thousands of dollars and a 5 day event.
