My theory has always been that our entire school lives is built around achieving (making us happy) something every few weeks/months (grades/graduating/etc). So when we get into a job which doesn't have those little "wins", we get burnt out and depressed. The mindset of getting good grades/graduating elem, middle, high school sets us up for failure bc it's nothing like real life.
