My job is designing segmentation models for commercial radiology products. Funnily enough, the first hurdle is usually the FDA. There are SOOO many segmentation algorithms out there that work, but you can’t build a product around something that you can’t quantify the failures or expected performance on, and very few people have the energy and patience to do that work.
