@_talithaa8: 100K in April for my son Arlo had me reflecting… I think often people might think his blindness is what’s hard , him not being able to see but in fact it’s not about that. I have had to change my perspective about the world and look at it through his eyes. What is he feeling , smelling , tasting, hearing. What is his experience ? Not comparing my life or Arlo with sighted children is still one of the hardest things that hit me emotionally. I used to hate it when strangers would say "what's wrong with her?" My oldest as a baby had a nose feeding tube, cpap machine and oxygen within the pram and the basket at bottom of the pram. I was so shocked every time I'd hear it. Nothing is "wrong" with her, she is perfect as she is. She and us just have additional challenges that we all learn and grow with. How open us parents have become because of them, we learnt to understand milestones differently. Yes, we can't travel overseas like we thought we could pre babies and still can't 14 years later. Every holiday trip is now within Australian as we need to make sure we are close to a hospital incase of her heart or feeding tube. Life is still wonderful, not as we planned pre kids, but wow aren't we open and excepting of others more. I couldnt go back to a my 9-5 job because she needed a full time career, unexpectedly. I said goodbye to my job and started a small business from home. Would NEVER change a thing! They have taught us so much and whats really important.❤️
