i am autistic. i hate when people say “youre making it your entire personality” it is not my personality but it affects my personality and my person, myself deeply. autism affects 99% percent of my life; the decisions i make, the things i do, the things i create, my interactions with my loved ones, etc. it affects all of that, so why must a neurotypical who has no idea what its like, (not talking about you) dictate how much i talk about my disability and how it affects my life? i am autistic and nothing will change that fact; as you cannot take autism away like how “i have autism” implies (imo, for me) i am simply autistic. i dont personally care if people use “i have autism” for themselves but i personally dislike using it for *myself* because it is not something that can be taken away, it is intertwined and affects my entire entire life and personality. something affecting a personality ≠ is your whole personality. i sorta went off of the topic in bits of this comment😭 i apologise i just wanted to yap

For me having something, that means it can go away, or be given away. Something non-perminant. I am autistic, like I am blonde (a dirty blonde, but still) it's part of me. Even when I dyed my hair brown and black, my hair always came back blonde. Becuase that is what it is. I have a glass of water, but I can change that. I have X pain, again that fluctiates and changes. No matter what or where I am, I'm autistic, which affects everything. I can't stop it from being part of me.

I say both depending on who I'm talking to. I prefer saying I am autistic, but most of the time I'll say I have autism because I want to clarify I actually have it and that I don't just say it to insult/make fun of myself

In Irish, when describing feelings and emotions, we would say "xyz is on/upon me", which has nothing to do with the point of the video. I just like that your personal vocabulary shares that and think it's neat :)
