no. that's a misopportune to familiar yourself with scientific notations. now, mechanism of finding percentage of something is multiply it with the whole value, as in 3% * 4.14 x 10^4. first convert 3% into 0,03 or 3x10^(-2). then multiply 10^4 with 10^(-2) which is 10^2. 3 * 4.14 is then easily 12.42, multiply by 100, the result is then 1,242.
