This bird is highly celebrated for its rich, sweet, and flute-like song. ​Behavior and Activity in September ​September is one of the most critical and active months in the Blackcap's life cycle, marking the peak of its autumn migration from Europe toward the Mediterranean basin and Africa (including the Levant and Arabian Gulf as key transit or wintering zones). ​Key behaviors during this month include: ​Dietary Shift (Hyperphagia): In September, the bird shifts from an insect-based diet (used during the summer breeding season) to intense feeding on berries and fruits (such as figs, blackberries, and elderberries). This instinctive behavior allows them to rapidly build up fat reserves to fuel their long flight. ​Nocturnal Migration: Blackcaps typically migrate at night, navigating by the stars and the Earth's magnetic field. They spend September days resting and foraging in dense bushes, orchards, and gardens. ​Reduced Singing: Their famous beautiful song fades significantly in September compared to spring.
