You’d think the testify one would be wrong but it’s actually the “Okay” one. The Greek “Ola Kala” origin is a popular story, but historians generally trace OK back to 1830s America. It started as a joke abbreviation for “oll korrect,” a misspelled version of “all correct.” It later got a huge boost from President Martin Van Buren’s “Old Kinderhook (OK)” campaign. Funny enough, one of the world’s most used words started as a joke.
