A college instructor said to not memorize but understand. These steps are a similar process.

One of the best things I’ve ever heard is that you really learn something by teaching it. If you can explain what you’re learning to someone else, you’ll remember it way better

Also, take a short nap after studying. Just about 20-30 minutes will do. there was a study about it when babies were provided with information before a nap. Those who took the nap were able to retain more information than those who didn't! It worked for me when I took my licensure exam.

The ugly notes technique really works on me. I will be jotting down notes in my notebooks with quick strokes and use many arrows, underlines, and graphs for emphasis. Even write in horizontal and vertical manner to create patterns that I can easily remember.

Rosemary for remembrance. Even Shakespeare recognised that in one of his plays

I joined this one seminar back in 6th grade. We used a basic pen. The speaker made us memorize 10 words and their meanings using the whole pen. We named the tip of the cap as the 1st word and their meaning. We basically named every part of the pen with all the 10 words. At the end she tested us by asking the word or the meaning, and boy, as a slow learner I was able to answer all the questions correctly. Since then if I needed to remember something I would look for visuals and would put meaning/word in to it. Like the icon of my phone battery or my phone itself. Random things that I always use or is always with me. 😁

Another way is to come up with Mnemonic remembering phrase, eg, On Old Olympus Towering Top, A Festive Virgin Gets Very Anxiously Hot. This is for the 12 Crainal Nerves . . (Olfactory, Optic, Oculomotor, Trochlear, Trigeminal, Abducens, Facial, Vestibulocochlear, Glossopharyngeal, Vagus, Accessory, Hypoglossal). Learned 45 years ago, still memorized!!

my child reads (and restains) while walking or bouncing or similar and listening to music in the background. The more senses engaged the better he recalls info.

My psychology professor told us when taking notes, not to continue our notes on back of the page we wrote on, but to continue on the next sheet of paper. I can't remember exactly why but it made sense- I'm now a licensed therapist and still adhere to this when I take notes from sessions.

My AUDHD brain works overtime but if I would go for a brisk walk or when I jogged, it was like meditation. My thoughts would flow so much better, I could block out pain, etc. once I sit down, it a circus.
