@kateclisson: Virginia Hall, aka "The Limping Lady" (born on this day, 6th April, 1906) made herself an absolute menace to the occupying German forces during World War Two with her Heckler network in and around the city of Lyon. She was so elusive that she went straight to the top of the Gestapo's most wanted list. #worldwarii #virginiahall #frenchresistance #historytok #womenshistory

French Girl History :
Meant post this yesterday (Virginia was born on the 6th of April - my sloppy organisational skills would not be suited to resistance work)! After her brave work during the war, Virginia worked for the CIA. Apparently, she talked very little about her time in France during the war, her bravery has only very recently come to light. If you want to read more about her, definitely check out "A woman of little importance" by Sonia Purnell 💕
