@urban.sterling: You’re looking at a gemstone older than our planet. Pallasite Meteorite is a mixture of a shattered proto-planet’s iron core and its rocky mantle. But the most staggering part of this stone isn’t how it was made, it is when it was made. These collisions happened during the violent, chaotic dawn of our solar system, roughly 4.5 billion years ago. That means the glowing green Peridot (technically called Olivine) trapped inside this iron sponge was crystallizing before the Earth had even finished forming. It drifted in the freezing vacuum of space for billions of years, surviving the cosmic shooting gallery, only to violently burn through our atmosphere and crash into the dirt. SOME peridot come pallasitic meteorites. The vast majority of the world's commercial supply is currently mined on the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona and comes from volcanic deposits ON EARTH
