Amanda Brown :
As a maternity nurse my advice is to not have a birth plan, the more you try and plan the more unpredictable you’re labor will be.

Nica Diggia :
My only advice is: make all the plans you want, but stay open to the possibility that events might completely turn them upside down.

Private midwife over doula. Doulas aren’t trained, have no formal medical knowledge and have no governing body therefore no one monitoring their practice. Also. Have a look at Melanie the midwife page. She has great info about VBACs.

Hire a private midwife instead of doula. I had a doula and ended up with c section. Had a private ob as well. My baby was small so ob was not sure the baby is “strong enough”. Doula did not help. The doula really can’t do much if you need some support with your ob.

private midwife hands down. hopefully ur OB is supportive many do the bait and switch. e.g. seem supportive until the last few weeks then start doubting u or planting seed like baby too big/small, posterior, low fluid or placenta calcified. if this happens please get a second opinion/ultrasound at different clinic that specialises in Obstetrics. wait until spontaneous labour and stay at home as long as possible

stay active during pregnancy and labour. don't just lay around in the bed while labouring. move move move. advocate for yourself! and trust in yourself and your body's ability 🥰

Midwives over OB all the way. Public hospital over private too. A private midwife would be best. Listen to the great birth rebellion there’s lots of episodes that can help you. Pelvic floor physio was a game changer for me. Hypbobirthing. I had a VBAC 5 weeks ago, unmedicated and very fast! I was so excited and it lived up to my hype!!

Katie, my husband’s recommendation is always have cups of ice chips on all sides of the bed! Whenever I needed to suck on the ice chips (they don’t let you drink water), it was his job to give them to me and the cup was always on the opposite side of the bed from where he was at the time.

Omg you can literally just say no to any interventions. People act like no isn’t a full sentence.

Apparently statistics show private hospitals result in higher rate of c-sections. Discussed in a Great Birth Rebellion ep.

You’ve got this!!!! Strongly recommend listening to the great birth rebellion podcast. Australian based, evidence based podcast run by a midwife of 18+ years with a PhD. Lots of episodes on vbacs, cascade of interventions and birthing unmedicated. You’re going to have the most amazing birth 💖

Lana | Motherhood Journey 🤍 :
Research, look at what you want and don’t feel like you want - intervention wise. Look at ways you can support yourself through labour, pain wise, positions, relaxation, breathing techniques, pushing, how your support person can help you. ❤️

Home birth. That’s what. Hospitals suck. So many interventions

First emergency csection, second medicated vbac (doctors recommended no induction). Third unmedicated and unplanned home birth. I had all three times very different birth experiences- but my one advise is to be open to any way it

Are you listening to all of the podcasts around successful vbacs? This is super helpful. Definitely it is so good to be aware of interventions and when you actually need them. A doula will be an amazing support you need people to advocate for you too ♥️am in the same boat as you, your a few weeks ahead. Excited to see your birth! And do the mind work for when labour hits because woweee it’s something else

I went to 42 weeks as I refused to be induced, the hospital started pressing to book in. The morning I went to go to my appt for them to convince me to be induced I went into spontaneous labour. Successful vbac! Don’t give into the pressure, look at the due date as a “guessing date” babies come when they are ready 🥰

Loz- Mum of 6 🤪 :
Mum of 6. I had VBACA2. As woo woo as it sounds, I trusted my body. I’ve only had drug free births due to allergies and if you can do a breath work birthing course, knowing how to breathe through the pain is helpful. Good luck. I hope you get your VBAC 💞
