imo its more about the amount of skin showing rather than the area itself being inmodest. I love and wear miniskirts all the time, but i definitely don't think they're just as modest as longer ones, i just don't care about that!

I dress very modest (mostly to protect my skin from the sun) IN MY OPINION you are still dressed modest, just less modest. Modesty is a spectrum, does this make sense?

I never understood it. It’s just skin. I feel the same with boobs. It’s just boobs. What’s the issue? As long as the crotch is covered for hygiene reason I really don’t get the problem or what’s immodest about it

the point is how body types have been sexualised culturally, the miniskirt represented a radical shift from far more modest standards purely because you were showing more skin than a knee length. In today's age it's not so scandalous, but that's why it's considered immodest, because it was literally popularised to be the antithesis of modesty.

it's about balance: if you have a short skirt, cover more top; if you have a low/open top, cover more leg; and have appropriate shoes for the context... when one has full cleavage+miniskirt+very-high heals at a super casual event then if feels attention seeky. but yes... in and of itself, a short skirt isn't categorically 'immodest'.

the miniskirt is immodest if you combine it with a crop top (not saying its "slu++y") if you want to show more skin on your leg your stomach should be mostly covered if you wanna show more stomach/clevage your bottoms should be longer if you want it to be modest
