CLARITY ACT OR 2030? THE CRYPTO CLOCK IS TICKING. ⏰ Sen. Cynthia Lummis has warned that if the CLARITY Act fails to pass during this Congress, the next major opportunity for comprehensive crypto market-structure legislation could be 2030. But White House crypto adviser Patrick Witt is more cautious about putting an exact date on what comes next. Speaking with Semafor, Witt said the path forward depends heavily on what happens in the November midterm elections and ultimately the 2028 presidential election. He also pointed out that passing major legislation becomes significantly more complicated during a lame-duck period or toward the end of an administration. And his message was blunt: “We have the moment right now.” Witt says Republicans and Democrats have narrowed their differences significantly after extensive negotiations and concessions — making this current window especially important. The Senate is scheduled to hold a procedural vote on September 15 that could open the CLARITY Act up for further consideration. That vote would NOT be final passage.
