In regard to JW specifically, I think it's less performative and more borderline fetishizing. He wanders along the line of appropriation of Black language and culture, ie referring to Ciara as "Sis" etc... I think it may be a somewhat subconscious thing more than an overt deliberate decision. Mind you, I'm white, so there's that. I really do like Jackson Wang and would like to think its very genuine, but.........

I feel like he brings anyone he feels like bringing on stage. Some videos go more viral than others, but if you paye attention there’s a lot of people from different backgrounds, men and women, so on and so forth. He just enjoys having fun with his fans and wants to share as much of his experience as he can. And I speak from (a not so fun) experience 🤷🏽‍♀️

I haven't seen who is picking the girls this concert (I get to see for myself tomorrow😍). But past concerts when he picked the girls it was always really diverse, ethnicities, sizes, etc. One of many reasons why I love him. I feel he has always tried to be very inclusive in making sure everyone feels included, including his fan boys! Inclusive Jackson, that's it, that's all! 🥰

It’s performative in a personal dating life sense but in terms of work it’s part of inclusivity. As majority of the non-celebrity women he follows on Instagram and hangs out with privately are not BW, they’re asian or white. The only BW he follows are musicians & dancers, essentially co-workers. So it’s only performative when fans equate him bringing BW on stage with being a potential suitor for him. And reality is most stories of him dating influencers or non-celebrities is usually with asian or white women. Like did you hear about him hooking up with a white blonde Brazilian woman that was a fan. 👀 You rarely ever hear the same with a BW. So the chance that he will actually date a BW is low and that’s why people then see him bringing BW on stage as performative. So it depends on whether people can separate his work from his real dating life. But it seems that they can’t.

As a long time fan of Jackson let me say this he truly loves all his fans. He is about being appreciative about where the love and support comes from. I know for a fact based on the conservations ive had with him. Honestly outside of Chinese fans his most support is Black women. For MM2 the dancers are picking but from MM1 he picked all of them. Let's not forget he is the boss of Team Wang so he making every decision overall. 😌

I'm sorry but this whole discourse is silly he does the segment at every show, why wasn't it considered performative when he was doing it in all those asian countries or when it's white women? At the end of the day you can see him in clips asking people if they want to come up on stage would it be better if he never asked a black women at all? no I don't think so
