This is such a bad take?! You can never sell a used Chanel bag at the current retail price. Even a new Chanel bag out of the store already depreciate in value.

But what about liquidity and resale? Chanel bags “depreciate” and are sold on a secondary market verses gold is a commodity. This analysis assumes you can resell a chanel bag a MSRP which is false. Gold retains that value in resell. Also going to liquidity, even when selling the Chanel you are subject to fees via consignment and resellers which also decay the margin in less liquid market. This is more an example of how gold tracks against Chanel MSRP which is a great analysis Chanel corporate correlating to price of gold and their margins, not a consumer or “investor” of the “value” of the Chanel bag

I have never gotten the appeal of the classic Chanel bags. Cool for whoever likes them but they are way overpriced for what you get.

A price increase is not the same as gold lol 😂 your channel that was 6000 when you bought is is only worth 2500 after using… you can wear gold and it’s worth more the longer you wait..

You’ve based this on the purchase price of a new bag, shouldn’t this be based on the prices of pre loved. Gold price you’re quoting is a resale value

so lying for no reason. gold was 1300 quid per ounce. its now 3.6k an ounce which is nearly 270% increase. meaning your $5800 would be circa 16k. even if you take the peak at 1550 it would still equate to 13300

I’ve been saving for years to buy a pre loved Chanel. It’s always been a beautiful,classic and timeless piece but not no more. The world and her sister have one and I’m seeing more of them than river island bags!! I think I’ll keep on saving and buy a Birkin or a Kelly 😔
