I can extensively plan and put those plans in every format but if I don’t get up and just start something without thinking then I will sit and doomscroll or I’m researching some project for 10 straight hours lol

This is so true! That’s why my psychiatrist recommended I see a therapist that specializes in neurodivergence to help me create systems.

I have my Today Top 3 Wins for Today and my time blocks by hour because I’m terrible at gaging time. That list comes from my This Week List that has about 5-10 things on it. Depending on how time consuming they are. That list comes from my Parking Lot. Everything that is not urgent goes to my Parking Lot. Urgent items get done right away or put on the bottom of today and become tomorrow’s win. This has worked for me. I had to quit looking at the whole picture. I had to stop thinking about all that needed done. I now celebrate Wins for the day that I choose. It being my choice has made the difference.

Doctors don’t tell you this, at least mine don’t. I only get told to take my medicine daily but I don’t get told side effects, systems, tips and tricks SO I appreciate your videos!

I resisted trying them for decades. I never knew my brain had a manual mode it was only on autonomous mode for my entire life. The Morgan Freemen narrorator in my brain is quiet. I have never slept so peacefully. My vechile is clean for the first time in my life and my side table only has one beverage on it.
For what its worth; I really enjoy your videos and would love to pick your brain on a multitude of topics.

i started meds this week and honestly the most difficult part has been actually planning my day now that it’s significantly easier to get things done. now i’m not just farting around hoping i find the energy and focus. i gotta plan when to take the meds, when to clock in on tasks, when to rest. this is a learning curve 😭

I actually had systems before I discovered I had ADHD. Medication made me soo much more capable. I wish I learned I had this as a child 😭 My life would have been so different

Yeah, this. I was getting frustrated thinking my meds aren’t working, but had to admit how little I’m meeting the meds even part of the way to focus on and do the things I need to do so the meds CAN help.

Unfortch I’ve been using extensive system my whole life, I have the opposite problem. My systems can no longer keep up with the pace of my life, and the lack of flexibility due to my systems is actually limiting the scope of my life… which is why I’m starting meds. Got any advice for those of us on the flip side of this??

I wake up get dressed ect, use my walking pad for 10 mins, do some strength training for a short time then I take my stimulant and go to my office and start a task. phone put away. I work for a small amount of time then go make breakfast for myself and my kiddos then we start our homeschool lessons. its changed my life my kids life and even my husbands life becauae I am so emotionally regulated and calmer then I have ever been. sad it took 36 years but can't look back now! my behavioral health specialist specifically told me you cant just rely on meds you have to do the work. sooo...might kind of be on the prescribed if you arent doing what you need to work on yourself because they didnt tell you how. 🤷♀️Just saying

Yeah people treat stimulants as a motivator to get stuff done. Personally, I am actually less productive on stimulants unless I have a plan. Because anxiety and years of treating tasks as incentives that if I complete them, I get to do my hobbies without the anxious cloud over my head. That system gets wiped once I take my medication. I only focus on what I want, and clearly I don’t WANT to clean😂
