It's wasn't that bad, though. It was just lived in but not deep-cleaned. I doubt the person was "expecting" you to clean up after them. They cleaned up after themselves they just didn't do a deep clean. A lot of people don't do a deep clean regularly (especially during a difficult time in their lives). That person didn't wreck your stuff or trash it, they just didn't clean it to your personal standards.

I rent out my upstairs bedroom & it includes a monthly cleaning service that comes through. I dont trust anyone to maintain cleanliness to my level, so at least once every 30 days it gets refreshed.

Bathroom dirt is gross for sure. Especially when it’s someone else’s but this isn’t damaged or anything. I used to clean houses and I’d see worse than this daily. This wasn’t months and months of build up. Maybe 2 weeks.

I don’t care if the landlord doesn’t care about the apartment. I didn’t clean my apartment when I left because they didn’t clean it when I moved in. I think people probably didn’t understand your landlord situation. But now a days most landlords do the least for an apartment.
