Aiden offered to let her keep the ring. Carrie declined (which was the right thing to do bc she didn’t want to marry him). Carrie resents Charlotte bc she got to keep both the ring and the nice apartment. There is resentment bc she didn’t feel Charlotte deserved any of it. That’s why she was fine taking the ring for her down payment and not cash from anyone else. Big was actually the person in the best financial position to loan her money and not blink an eye if she never paid it back.
