@karenschaler: ‼️TRAVEL ALERT ‼️ Right now your passport alone will NOT be enough to enter Europe. I’m a 3-time Emmy Award-winning journalist. I’ve traveled to 68+ countries for my Travel Therapy TV, movies, and books I write, sharing daily travel tips. Here’s what you need to know. If you’re American, Canadian, British, or from most non-EU countries, you’ll now go through the new EES system in Europe that’s fully implemented as of April 10th, 2026. EES EXPLAINED: At border control, you will:
• Give fingerprints
• Take a photo
• Submit biometric data This is required for entry into 29 European countries. It takes about 1 to 3 minutes per person. That means lines could hit 2 to 4 hours at busy airports. EES TRAVEL TIPS: Do NOT book tight connections. Give yourself extra time, especially during summer and holidays. There is a new EES app for Europe travel rolling out, so you may be able to pre-register some information. Ask me any EES questions. I’ll walk you through it. #EuropeTravel #EES #TravelTips #traveltiktok #traveleurope

Why are you trying to panic people? It takes a little bit longer to get our info. Not a big deal.

I’m a Canadian and I went to Paris at the end of February. I had to do this and the longest I had to wait was probably 5-10 minutes. I think it just depends on how busy the airport is while you’re checking in/arriving at your destination.

I am a UK/CAD dual citizen, flying to the UK from CAD but connecting through Lisbon. Do I require going through EES for my connection if I’m not leaving the airport?
