Most of the time, they hitchhike into your tank on live plants, hardscape, or even in the water from shrimp bags. Their eggs are tiny and almost invisible, so it’s easy to introduce them without realising. The truth is — they’re not actually harmful. In fact, they help clean up leftover food, algae, and biofilm. But if you start seeing loads of them, it’s usually a sign that there’s too much food or waste in the tank. Here are 2 simple tips to get rid of them (or at least control them): 1. Feed less 🍤 If your snail population is growing fast, you’re overfeeding. Cut back your feeding slightly and you’ll naturally reduce their numbers over time. 2. Use a veggie trap 🥒 Drop in a slice of blanched cucumber or zucchini overnight. By morning, it’ll be covered in snails — just remove it and repeat for a few days.
