@leahshomestead: People love to say “don’t waste it”… …but nobody talks about the time it takes to turn everything into a finished product. Spinning wool sounds beautiful—until you’re the one trying to keep up with animals, gardens, kids, and real life. Homesteading isn’t about doing everything. It’s about knowing what’s actually worth your time. For us, this wool goes back into our system—into the garden and into our animals. Not aesthetic. Not impressive. Just practical. And that’s what actually works. #homesteadlife #realhomestead #sheeplife #homesteadingtruth #selfsufficientliving
Spinner, weaver here, you are very correct. You are using the wool 💯✨ there is a company making garden plugs with dirty wool, insulation definitely but it all has an environmental impact with processing the fibre. In this case the garden and the human’s are still getting the benefit for the future. Keep up the awesome work you guys ✨💙

We are going to try it in the garden too. Although I have to admit, last year I used wool to make a slow cooker. A great device!

Time is your greatest resource. Can only use so much of it. Good for you for being resourceful and self-aware.

I like to put woodchips on top of the wool so it doesn’t blow away

Yep, I put sheep wool in the bottom of my containers and makes it lighter, and it's great for nitrogen, and also I'm a dog groomer, and I save the dog hair and do the same thing. It makes my pots easier to move around and breaks down creates amazing nitrogen for the plants

you can use it as insulation in a wall, like for the barn or something.

for something like insulation it just needs to be cleaned and compressed. the quality and strength won't have much effect on the results

That’s exactly what I would have suggested, there is an Irish las, who uses sheep wool on her gardens as well.

In years pay it was people in the community who all had their specialties not each household doing it all for themselves! I think people need to understand that.
