As we talked, he kept insisting that his good deeds would get him into heaven. That’s when I began to bring the truth through scripture. The Word says in Mark 10:18, “There is none good but One, that is, God.” No matter how good we think we are, none of us measure up to God’s standard on our own. And in Isaiah 64:6, it says that our righteousness is like filthy rags. That means even our best works cannot save us. As I shared this with him, you could see the tension because truth will always confront what we believe. But I wasn’t there to condemn him, I was there to reveal Jesus. I explained that salvation isn’t about being “good enough” it’s about surrender. It’s about repentance and putting your faith in Jesus Christ, the only One who lived a perfect life and paid the price for our sins on the cross. Here’s the revelation: If your confidence is in your goodness, you’ll always fall short ROMANS 3:23. But if your confidence is in Jesus, you’ll never be lost.
