"Amount of students" doesn't work in English because "students" is a countable noun. You'd say the "number of students." Amount is for uncountable nouns like "amount of sugar in a jar" for example, because you can't count individual grains of sugar.

Anzahl, isn’t a different term for Zahl, it’s the sum (amount). Zahl, Nummer and Ziffer are as explained.

also erklärst du ja ganz klar in deinem Erklärvideo dass amount nicht gleich numbers ist da sagen wir Deutschen ja auch ganz klar die Anzahl und nicht die Zahl hat ehrlicherweise in dem Video also nichts verloren

Zahl is the noun version of zahlen which means “to count.” Actually still has a cognate in the English word for Geldautomat “automatic teller machine” a teller is a counter, a zahler! Not to be confused with the German word for plate 🍽️
