@sincerelyjennifergrace: If you look at the world right now, what we need is people who have taste, perspective, discernment and those people almost always have some kind of grounding in the humanities. Not because they memorized facts, but because they learned how to think. #humanities #lifelonglearning #study #academia #intellectual
I’m graduating with my bachelors in Anthropology and History this week. I can’t wait to get a job as an archivist in the future

That’s a consequence of capitalism. People are only choosing fields that they can make money. It’s very sad

I have a degree in History and I work in tech. The tech side I taught myself, the critical thinking gained from my education I could not have taught myself. The Humanities are the foundation of all other disciplines for a reason, and yes including the Sciences.

Also, what even is life without deep thought and art? Like what’s the point of going through the motions every day without any beauty or revelation?

Imagine how great of learners the people were who regularly attended salons. How much they probably connected ideas across history - and this is so important for not repeating history!

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. That is why samurai during Edo Period studied ikebana and calligraphy. Great samurai warriors had discipline and war skills but also a deep understanding of nature, especially human nature.
