Hi Doctor, Thank you for your excellent consultation. One of my relatives lived with these symptoms for about three years. During that time, he visited several hospitals, but none of the physicians referred him for this treatment. Unfortunately, we were also unaware that this option existed. Two months ago, he accidently suffered a stroke, and we first took him to Axon. He was only prescribed blood-thinning medication, with no further intervention. We then took him to Tikur Anbessa Hospital, where he again received only blood thinners, and no IV thrombolytic treatment was administered. Sadly, he passed away on the 20th day. I deeply regret that we were unaware of this treatment. At the same time, I am heartbroken that the physicians who evaluated him did not refer him for it—especially one who recognized his symptoms, reviewed his CT scan, even asked whether he had suffered a stroke, yet simply advised him to continue taking his blood pressure medication without recommending this procedure. We lost him without ever knowing this treatment was available. I sincerely believe that much greater awareness is needed among both the public and healthcare professionals so that other families do not have to experience the same tragedy.
