As a Billy fan, i can't imagine a two mechanical faces, cuz the first layer is protective one, underneath his face of metal face that have sensors to move and express emotions with his eyes. It's super confusing for me😦😦 'n don't even understand why they doing this... Ofc i accept Billy in every state but it's straight a Banyue's face idea: a lion plates on the outsides and beast's fangs underneath it. I just hope it's something symbolic but I can't understand what it can be😦? In old models he just has blackness underneath the jaw's edge and white space in official figure🤔

I’ll be honest I’m not that much of a fan of it. It really through me off seeing it and I had to sit with the info. His face initially looked kind of creepy and unnerving. I thought the glass casing was more of a protection from debris and his “face plate” where there are some divots was for him to emote better and convey more emotion. The red face underneath made me think of like a head cannon I thought of as him being tech from the old civilisation and we know that curses and onis exist that are more supernatural. I thought maybe he could be a demon/spirit? Has been attached to this mechanical body as like a limiter. I am probably completely wrong and pulling this out my ahh and I’m still not very deep into the story so I don’t know if this is even possible. But the way his face looks so demon like and angry? Just makes the contrast to his personality.

I'm pretty sure that what we've seen for the past (almost) two years is his main and only faceplate. There doesn't appear to be any visible gaps in that plate, so it wouldn't be separating to reveal this. I think this is an analogy for how beneath the mask of his personality is a Crimson Nightmare.
